Arsonist Burns Three More Cars In El Sobrante, Richmond

Last week's spree of 11 car fires appears to have continued overnight as four additional vehicles were set alight along San Pablo Dam Road, Appian Way, and May Valley areas. Contra Costa County Fire officials said the vehicles were gutted and were total losses.

All of the cars were parked in or near their owner's homes when the fires were set. No one was injured although in one case an adjacent fence was scorched by flames.

Richmond police, fire investigators and other county officials are looking into reports that a former firefighter made statements of a questionable nature upon his release from the department. The unidentified "person of interest" apparently lives in the area where many of the blazes started.
